Questionnaire Self-efficacy to Exercise

T.w.v. € 9,95

Self-efficacy is a very strong predictor on adherence to exercise. Self-efficacy is a person’s belief in their capabilities to overcome personal, social and environmental barriers. A high level of (perceived) self-efficacy makes it more likely that your client or member will initiate a behaviour and maintain the behaviour. Mind you that self-efficacy is related to specific kinds of behaviours expressed in confidence to maintain the behaviour and temptation to terminate the behaviour. Your client may feel confident in running on a treadmill but feels unconfident in executing a kettlebell work-out.

There are four sources for an individual’s self-efficacy. These are (in order of effectiveness): a. Past experiences in performing specific behaviours; b. Vicarious experiences (watching others successfully perform behaviours); c. Verbal persuasion (being told that one is capable); d. Experiences of physiological arousal. You can increase self-efficacy by implementing simple strategies in the exercise programme of your client, but the same strategies can be used within a nutritional and lifestyle programme. Ask clients about past experiences and choose a starting activity they feel confident with. You can add new activities later when their confidence has increased. Give examples of other clients that specific behaviour can be done, preferably others that are similar to the client.

With this questionnaire you can easily measure self-efficacy in an objective way.
